1) 'Campaign Scenario' calculator for customer development and new customer acquisition

  • How would 5% customer reactivation affect our bottom line?

  • What would be the effect on profitability if we up-sell by 2%

  • How profitable is our prospecting...

Use this powerful calculator to examine the impact of change in your acquisition, retention, re-activation, cross-sell and up-sell strategies.

Enter your own values and 'what-if' scenarios and see the cumulative gain that can be achieved with only small planning changes to your business and marketing. The outcome will surprise you!

When using the calculator slider bars, click on blue circle and drag until the required value/percentage is reached, pause for a second, then release the mouse button. Campaign Scenario operating instructions - click here

2) 'Business, marketing and sales planning' calculator

Use this calculator to evaluate varying 'what-if' scenarios to set financial targets then plan direct marketing and sales activities that take account of expected response, conversion to qualified leads and then to orders. You will find it a real eye-opener, with the output often leading to a re-think of your DM strategies.

Start by entering (double-click on value box) your sales target, expected turnover, etc., for the next 12 months and how much of this needs to come from new business.

Then enter your average order/transaction value, expected conversion rates for quotes to orders, leads to quotes, enquiries to leads...and view the results. You will see how many prospects you need, quantity of leads per sales or telemarketing person, marketing spend needed, etc.

3) 'Mailing test sample-size' graphical calculator

This tool - based on a proven statistical sampling formula - can be used to calculate the minimum number of items you need to test mail in that you will be confident that if the response you receive falls within your expected response range, then this will also be the case for any subsequent mailing where all elements of the test remain the same.

It will save you costs by not over mailing during the test phase of your campaign. Enter your expected response, the acceptable amount of response fluctuation (confidence interval) and the calculator shows you how many people to mail.

4) 'Expected mailing response' graphical calculator

This calculator should be used following your test mailing. Enter the actual quantity of items mailed (or emailed) and the actual response you received.

The calculator will then work out the minimum and maximum response rates you are likely to get from a roll-out promotion - provided that all mailing elements remain the same as in the test.

Simply set the sliders to the response you achieved and the number mailed, and the minimum and maximum response you can expect on roll-out will be shown.

 Any Problems?

If you experience any problems using the calculators from our website - sometimes the case with firewall restrictions - we suggest you request a link to download them to your PC, have them emailed to you or provided on a CD.  Click here to request your own copy of our calculators

On-line calculators do not appear
If for any reason the calculators do not appear after clicking on the pictures, this may be due to your browser, operating system and/or computer/network/firewall security blocking the download. In which case request a CD. Also, should you receive a message that a download is being blocked and are then presented the option to allow it to download, select 'Yes'.

Error messages on loading
Once the calculator starts to draw, if you
get the message 'a script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player 7 to run slowly... Do you want to abort the script', check 'No' and let it continue to load. It will not affect your computer operation and usually appears if your (or our) internet connection is running slowly or if you have may programmes open/running on your PC.

If for any reason you still cannot access the on-line calculators, please call us on the number below or complete the calculator request form. We will then provide you with links to download the calculators or send them to you on a CD.

Alternatively we suggest you seek assistance from you IT team.                                         To top

Difficulty in using the calculator controls
When using the slider bars on these calculators, click on blue circle and drag slowly until the required value/percentage is reached, pause for a second, then release the mouse button.  It does take a little getting used to and needs a steady hand but is necessary to allow a wide range of input values. When entering values in boxes, double click to enter value.  To enter a percentage, enter as a decimal - for 5% enter 0.05. Note. For 'what-if' scenario calculators, fields where you input values are generally in blue, the outcome in dark red and gains in dark green.

MS PowerPoint users
When running calculators in MS PowerPoint - YOU MUST VIEW THEM AS A PRESENTATION - and not just open the slides. If you don't run as a presentation, all you will see is pictures and no calculations.
From Slide Show menu at top of the PowerPoint screen, select 'View Show' F5. Note. Any PowerPoint slideshow that ends with the file extension .PPS will run automatically as a presentation.

Operational difficulty
If you have any difficulty in operating these calculators or interpreting their outcome, call Tech4T on
