The Situation

Rated as Outstanding by Ofsted, Kids Academy is a rapidly expanding, multi-award winning provider of early years childcare and education in the UK and overseas. Working with children Demographic dataup to 5 years, their highly trained staff deliver a curriculum spanning literacy, mathematics, art and design and knowledge of the world.

In order to support future franchise growth, Kids Academy embarked on a project to provide a deep level of customer insight, analysing current locations and geographic catchment areas to inform decisions regarding growth and expansion into a national territory structure.

Tech4T were selected as the partner of choice to provide these services based on their deep analysis capabilities and sophisticated mapping technology. An extensive knowledge of child based franchise models was also a decisive factor. Over several weeks, working closely with Kids Academy’s UK Franchise Directors Robert Dancy and Jacqui Smith, Tech4T delivered customer insight and a site based UK territory infrastructure.

Step 1 – Analysis

An analysis of the existing nurseries based in Warrington provided customer insight that would underpin future franchise location planning criteria and territory design. Tech4T provided business strategy consultancy, making site location recommendations based on key analysis results. Significant factors included competitor proximity and a realistic catchment area based on target customer concentrations. Exploiting capacity, customer and demographic information, market penetration levels were also calculated for the Warrington area.

Step 2 – National site-based franchise territories

Demographic criteria and geographic size were critical in creating territories that would provide new franchisees with the greatest opportunity for success.
