Description

Tech4T are a UK reseller of CoSORT, a leading-edge UNIX sort and Windows sort software for rapidly reordering massive sequential, or flat files. But CoSORT is much more: CoSORT is a high-performance data-processing suite for one-pass selection, joining, summarisation, and reporting. CoSORT delivers versatile data manipulation and reformatting functionality in large RDBMS, data warehouse, application development, and mainframe migration environments. CoSORT also has many plug'n'play interfaces that you can use to replace the sort verbs within UNIX and third-party application software -- even other sort products.

Normal CoSORT packages ship with three standalone utilities, one Java GUI, three APIs, and four third-party sort replacements. Additional third party sort replacements are optionally available. All CoSORT user interfaces leverage a unique "Co"routine SORT engine, from which the product takes its name.

CoSORT's central sort engine uses a minimal- time sorting algorithm in a coroutine architecture (that transfers records through memory). It is this unique coroutine architecture, coupled with direct SMP (parallel CPU) exploitation, that is behind both CoSORT's record-setting and highly-scalable production performance, and the popular user interfaces leveraged by leading application developers.

Platform Availability

CoSORT has always been first to support commercially-available UNIX and Windows platforms, including the: HP 9000 (PA_RISC and Itanium 2 systems) running HP-UX 9-11; IBM RS/6000, pSeries, SP2, and ES9000 running AIX 3.2-5.2 and AIX/ESA; Bull DPX/2 and Escala servers (AIX); Compaq (Digital) AlphaServers running Tru64 (Digital/OSF) UNIX  (as well as older DECsystems running RISC/Ultrix); SunFire, Sun UltraEnterprise and SPARCware (and compatibles like Fujitsu, Solbourne and CS6400) running SunOS 2-4 and Solaris 5-9; FreeBSD for Intel, NCR MP-RAS; Pyramid Reliant, Nile, MISserver and 9000[T] running DC/OSx; Sequent NUMA-Q and Symmetry (running ptx and DYNIX, COFF and ELF); Data General AViiON running DG/UX; Siemens-Nixdorf RM running SINIX; Silicon Graphics Challenge and lower running IRIX; plus Encore Infinity; Fujitsu DS/90; Amdahl 5990/5; Convex C; and Wyse 5-9000 and, other Intel-based processors running SCO UNIX and UNIXWare, Linux, Solaris, and Interactive UNIX. CoSORT for Linux is also available for IBM eServer x, i, p and zSeries (mainframe) platforms, and was recently ported to SLES (SuSE) 9 on the IBM POWER5 chip and Apple's PowerPC running OS X 10.3.

Licensing and Support

CoSORT license fees are assessed one time for perpetual use and fairly reflect the performance benefits derived from its host hardware. Fees are configuration-dependent, and discounts apply for site licensing, non-profit institutions, and ISV runtimes. Annual maintenance, including new release discounts and technical support, is free for the first
year after licensing.
