Creating the single view

To facilitate a single customer and prospect view, the varying data sources must first be merged. There are usually two approaches which ultimately may be combined:

1. Where data sources are unlinked and therefore require transformation and the use of fuzzy-matching algorithms to derive the correct linkage. This often tends to be undertaken on an ad-hoc basis to accommodate additional files and mailing lists being included, although once a match has been derived, paired sets of unique identifying reference numbers can be saved and used for repeat file joining. 

2. Where there is a natural linkage between files and tables as found in a relational database structure. Often companies maintain several relational databases with linkage connecting them. With this situation an ETL tool such as FastStats Designer (see picture below) or Cosort may be be used to prepare and join the data for loading into KbaseT/Weblink or FastStats Discoverer.  (see also merge/purge bureau services)
