Comprehensive tabular and nested reporting Clearly report your results to the people who can use them Once you've done analysis, you usually need to summarise results so non-technical audiences can understand them. Survey or market researchers can use the all-new SPSS TablesTM, an SPSS add-on module for the reporting stage, to display results in a tabular format. The all-new SPSS Tables provides many frequently requested features and capabilities. Experienced and new users alike will greatly benefit from these updates, including an interactive table preview builder. SPSS Tables includes special capabilities for survey analysis, giving you what's needed to report surveys, customer satisfaction and polling results. And, SPSS Tables' speed and production facilities make it ideal for compliance reporting. SPSS Tables enables you to transform massive amounts of case data into readable and understandable condensed information, so you can better understand your customers and citizens. When using SPSS Tables, you can easily print results, publish them to the Web using SmartViewer® Web Server for deployment or export them to Microsoft® Word or Microsoft® Excel for presentations. Know what your tables will look like, as you create them Create tables more easily using SPSS Tables' improved graphical user interface (GUI). Use the new table preview builder to take the guesswork out of building tables. Just click and drag your variables into the builder. You don't have to write complicated syntax or work with unwieldy dialog boxes, and you can immediately see what your table will look like. The preview pane works like a canvas that shows the basic table layout while you specify or modify a table. You can easily move variables from row to column, collapse large complex tables for a more concise view and see categories of variables while working with them and before putting them in tables. Because it shows you the arrangement of variables (e.g., dimensions, stacking or nesting), categories of each variable and requested statistics, you can see what your table will look like before clicking the "OK" button. This enables you to confirm your table's appearance or edit it before producing output — saving you time, especially when working with more complex tables. Get your tables right the first time using the intuitive table preview builder. This feature is just one of many you'll enjoy in the all-new SPSS Tables add-on module, whether you're a long-time user or a new user. (Click the image to enlarge.) Create production tables - fast Create a variety of complicated table structures in a production setting -- and quickly create production tables for presentations and publications. You can also create compliance reports, which may need updating on a regular basis, quickly and easily Get what's needed for presenting tabular results SPSS Tables enables you to summarize and communicate results in any tabular form, including complex stub-and-banner tables, contingency tables, and display listing of survey data. This add-on module includes special capabilities for survey analysis, such as layering, nesting, stacking, and multiple response analysis, so you can generate reports on surveys, customer satisfaction, and polling results. For instance, market researchers can condense the results of multiple-response questions, such as answers to "check all that apply," into a single table to make it easy to present this information. SPSS Tables also distinguishes between the different types of missing values, such as "do not know," "didn't answer," "not applicable," "refused to answer," or any other missing value you specify. This enables report readers to see the full picture in regards to the type of responses you receive. If you update reports on a regular basis, SPSS Tables is the ideal tool to recalculate and reformat new tables with revised data.
You'll find it easy to compress large amounts of data into meaningful reports with the stacking and nesting facilities in SPSS Tables. You can nest variables to any level in all dimensions (rows, columns or layers). Easily and effectively present tabular results Expand SPSS® Base's capabilities with SPSS Tables®. Ensure your audience, which many times includes people who aren't technically savvy, understands and can use your results when you create tabular reports in SPSS Tables, an SPSS add-on module. The all-new SPSS Tables provides many frequently requested features and capabilities. Old and new users alike will greatly benefit from these updates. And, SPSS Tables easily plugs into SPSS Base ensuring you can work seamlessly in the SPSS environment. Take the guesswork out of table building The new, interactive table builder in the graphical users interface (GUI) empowers you to know what your tables look like as you create them. You can easily see what your table will look like, as you create it, in the table preview builder. Here, the user placed "Jazz Music," broken down by the degrees in which people like jazz music, in the rows and the "Region," broken down by specific location, in the column. The user also has added a layer of "Homeowner" to the table. The Homeowner layer will result in three tables: Homeowner, Renter, and Total. (Click the image to enlarge.) Gain more control over output for improved presentation Category management improvements, such as the ability to display or exclude categories with no counts, enables you to more easily customize tables structures for polished and professional-looking reports. For example, you can combine several categories into a single category for top-box or bottom-box analysis. You can also add subtotals, change variable types or exclude categories from your table, as you create your tables, to present data more effectively. Export tables with ease SPSS Tables results are produced as SPSS pivot tables so your audience can explore results more easily. And because tables are saved as pivot tables, you can export them to Microsoft® Word or Microsoft® Excel — in the same way that you can now export pivot tables created in SPSS Base. All table formatting is now maintained when you export pivot tables — no additional table editing is needed in Word or Excel. This improves your workflow and makes it easier to get results to those who need them. Get in-depth analysis in your tables Add greater value and insight when working with tables when using inferential statistics, sometimes called significance testing. You can highlight opportunities or problem areas by adding inferential statistics to your table. This empowers you to easily compare means or proportions for demographic groups, customer segments, time periods or other categorical variables. You can also identify trends, changes or major differences in your data. For example, a researcher in a government agency might create tables showing each region her agency covers and the job satisfaction levels associated with each region. She notices that there might be a relationship between people who are very satisfied with their jobs and the region in which they live. To determine if this relationship exists, she uses a Chi-square test and decides to use a 95 percent confidence level for her analysis. Knowing that this confidence level is high, the agency further studies the correlation between happiness on the job and region. Using inferential statistics is a way that you can work in the data analysis stage of the analytical process to identify groups. And because your end result is a tabular report, it's easy to share your results with others. Inferential statistics in SPSS Tables include Chi-square tests, column proportions tests and pairwise comparison of means. The ability to add inferential statistics in your tables truly separates SPSS Tables from standard reporting tools and previous versions of this add-on module. As with previous versions, you can also select from a variety of summary statistics. Choose from summary statistics such as:
You can determine if you want to include summary statistics for rows or columns, decide the variables to include or choose the types of statistics to calculate.
Polish your reports with formatting tools SPSS Tables gives you all the formatting tools you need for completing your reports. For example, you can:
More easily
work with syntax — especially when creating large production jobs It's now easier to make changes in a production environment and gives you more flexibility if you want to run many tables at once. Rest assured, syntax created in previous versions of SPSS Tables will continue to work in the new version. To take advantage of new features, such as the category management improvements, simply use the included syntax converter (for upgrade users) to translate the original syntax to the new command syntax.
